The other main difference in this ACT model for chronic pain is the functional analysis and treatment of client’s language. Rather than working with dysfunctional thoughts associated with pain, which was done previously, ACT introduces a radically different approach far more consistent with functional analysis. Function rather than content of language including thoughts characterized all therapeutic interactions, which literally ended most all conflicts.
